Realtime Rainbow Visualizer illustrates what happens when you convert light wavelengths (nm) to sound. (hz) 

It has a literal mode corresponding to the narrow wavelengths of visible light, with red representing lower frequencies, and blue representing higher. The other mode extends the audio spectrum to the entire audible spectrum at the cost of fidelity to exact wavelength mapping.
